Steenberg High School Symphonic Wind Band
The Steenberg High School Symphonic Wind Band was established by Lainey Trequesser in March 2013. Merlin Julie, a piano, organ and woodwind specialist, is the current band leader.
Mandisi Dyantyis is a versatile musician who is also a composer, arranger and producer, not only in Jazz but also in Western Classical and African Indigenous Music.
Sibusiso Mash Mashiloane is a prolific artist whose academic credentials speak volumes for his passion and discipline for music. A great artist in this very vibrant time in South African jazz music.
Trumpeter Darren English has been touring with his group in US and South Africa. He debuted the music of his latest release Imagine Nation at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival earlier this year.
Tucan Tucan, formed by Muriel Marco (Argentina) and Frank Paco (Mozambique / South Africa), unites a fusion of different styles of music. A kaleidoscope of sound – World Jazz music with Latin & House beat infusion.

Lady Day Big Band
The 20-piece Lady Day Big Band features a powerful line up of Cape Town’s finest musicians. The band incorporates contemporary styles with traditional big band sounds.
South African born Jazz Trumpeter and Composer, Lwanda Gogwana is a 3 time 2012 SAMA award nominee for Best Jazz, Best Newcomer and Male artist of the year.
Ariel Zamonsky is an Argentinian bass player who started studying music at the age of 13. He has played with numerous renown musicians on various world stages and explores diverse genres.
Saxophonist Ivan Mazuze swings African Jazz. Deeply rooted in progressive African jazz, his melodies are supported by a powerful rhythm section consisting of electric bass, piano and drums.
Thembelihle Dunjana is a vibrant, young pianist, composer and bandleader from Gugulethu, Cape Town. Her band, “Igugu”, is influenced by African American Jazz, SA jazz, house, soul and kwaito.
